The Council for the Advancement of the South African Constitution (CASAC) welcomes the announcement that the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ms Thoko Didiza, will convene a high-level consultative engagement on 16 July 2026 to review progress and advance the implementation of recommendations contained in the Report of the National Assembly’s Ad Hoc Committee on the Review of Chapter 9 and Associated Institutions, commonly known as the Asmal Report. The consultation brings together heads of Chapter 9 bodies with representatives from the legislature and the executive.
